Hollywood Star Ann B. Davis Dies At Age 88
Ann B DavisĀ who portrayed loveable maid Alice Nelson on iconic family sitcom The Brady Bunch passed away on June 1st 2014.
The 88-year-old died as a result of hitting her head after a fall in her bathroom early Sunday morning at her home in San Antonio, Texas, according to TMZ.
Ann did not regain consciousness after the tragic fall.
The actress's good friend Episcopal Bishop William C. Frey, experienced a subdural hematoma as a result of the fall, CNN reports.
Ann's funeral is 'in the process' of being arranged by friends from her church.
The actress lived with a couple in a religious community in Texas and was reportedly 'pretty healthy' for her age.
TMZ report she 'even walked downstairs to say goodnight before going to bed,' the evening before her death.
The Emmy winning actress was born in Schenectady, New York, on May 3, 1926.
She graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a degree in drama and speech in 1948.
Ann was cast as the popular maid Alice Nelson opposite Florence Henderson and Robert Reed in 1969 and starred in the show until it ended in 1974.
She even appeared in spin-off versions of the show as the popular maid in A Very Brady Christmas, The Brady Brides, and The Brady Bunch Movie.
And while the actress never married in real life, her character Alice did eventually find love and marry her on-screen love interest, Sam Franklin on TV.
The star relished her time on The Brady Bunch, once remarking that her on screen brood felt like her real family.
'I cared very much about this family,' she said in a 2004 interview with the Archive Of American Television. 'It was my family. It was close to my family as Alice would ever get. I would have died for any single one of them at any point.'
Before The Brady Bunch fame, Ann starred in The Bob Cummings Show from 1955 to 1959 as secretary Schultz, winning two Emmy Awards for her work.
She was bestowed with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
